Frequently Asked Product Usage Questions

I'm having stick or trigger issues on my G7 Pro 8K, what do I do?

Try performing the Stick & Trigger Calibration via the app or manually.

On the main menu, select the Test icon, then hold Mode button + Menu button to start calibration.

Or follow the manual steps shown in the attached video and written guide:

Enter calibration mode: While the controller is actively connected to your PC or Xbox, hold View button + Home button + Menu button until the Home button indicator flashes slowly in white.

Calibrate resting point: Do not touch LT, RT, left joystick or right joystick, then press the A button. The indicator will turn off.

Calibrate ranges: Fully press LT and RT to maximum travel three times. Rotate both joysticks at their maximum angles three times. Press the A button once both operations are finished. The indicator will turn solid white to confirm calibration is complete.

Notes:

  1. Manual recalibration may succeed when in-app calibration fails.
  2. Perform calibration at a steady speed with gentle movements to prevent data collection errors.
  3. Calibration can be carried out via wired or wireless connection.
  4. Calibration only affects analog trigger mode and does not impact mouse click mode.

Calibration must be performed with the faceplate installed. Calibrating without the faceplate will produce incorrect range values.

The back buttons and bumpers don't do anything, how do I use them?

The extra buttons are "null inputs", meaning they have no assigned function until mapped. You can configure them via GameSir Nexus (available on the Xbox and Windows Stores), or by using the button sequence described in the manual.

Simplified instructions:

To assign a mapping: Hold Mode button + the remappable button until the indicator blinks, then press the target button you want to set.

To clear a mapping: Hold Mode button + the remappable button until the indicator blinks, then press the same remappable button again.

A video guide covering each method is available. Reference assignments shown below: L4: A button, L5: Y button, R4: B button, R5: X button

My G7 Pro doesn’t turn on at all when connected to my PC?

Ensure that you have tried the previously mentioned troubleshooting steps:

  1. The controller is fully plugged in
  2. The cable and ports function properly

In many cases, the issue is software or driver related. For driver-related problems, try uninstalling the driver or manually reloading it. Test each method separately and check for improvements after each operation.

To uninstall the driver: Press Win + X to open Device Manager. Right-click the matching device: • Xbox 360 Controller for Windows (1000Hz mode) • Xbox Gaming Device (250Hz / 500Hz mode) Select Uninstall Device. Do not delete driver files if prompted. Afterwards, click Scan for hardware changes, or unplug and reconnect the controller.

To reload the driver: Press Win + X to open Device Manager. Right-click the matching device: • Xbox 360 Controller for Windows (1000Hz mode) • Xbox Gaming Device (250Hz / 500Hz mode) Select Update Driver > Browse my computer for drivers > Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer. If multiple options appear, select the latest version and click Next. Close the window once finished.

Ensure you install the correct driver.

You may also troubleshoot the USB Root Hub:

How to uninstall the USB Root Hub via Device Manager: Press Win + X to open Device Manager. Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers. Right-click each USB Root Hub entry and select Uninstall device (do not delete driver files if prompted). Restart your PC and check whether the issue is resolved.

How to uninstall via USB Tree View: Download the tool here: https://www.uwe-sieber.de/usbtreeview_e.html#download to identify the active hub. As an example: locate your "Guangzhou Chicken Run Network Xbox Gaming Device". Find the hub the controller is connected to, right-click the hub > Device Properties > Change Settings > Driver > Uninstall Device. Restart your PC to apply changes.

If the above methods fail and you are running Windows 11, repair system files via Windows Update: Go to Settings > System > Recovery > Fix Problems using Windows Update.

Note: Microsoft no longer provides standalone versions of these drivers; they are now built-in system files.

My controller is connected via dongle or cable and on the Switch mode, but it is not working. What do I do?

  1. Open System Settings from the HOME Menu
  2. Navigate to Controllers and Sensors
  3. Select Pro Controller Wired Communication
  4. Toggle the option to On

What is polling rate, and how does it relate to latency?

Polling Rate & Input Latency Technical Explanation

Polling rate refers to how frequently a controller samples and transmits input signals to the host device. Latency is the total delay spanning the polling cycle and actual input delivery.

Polling rate acts as the theoretical minimum latency ceiling:

  • 125Hz polling rate = 8ms per polling cycle; the theoretical lowest possible input latency is 8ms
  • 1000Hz polling rate = 1ms per polling cycle; the theoretical lowest possible input latency is 1ms

Real-world latency will always exceed this theoretical baseline, determined mainly by the controller’s microcontroller (MCU) processing efficiency and installed firmware. Circuit board design is another critical factor, including PCB layout quality and electronic component grade.

Full End-to-End Input Signal Pipeline

  1. You trigger an input on the controller
  2. The controller’s polling mechanism detects the input signal
  3. The MCU receives and processes the captured input data
  4. Processed data is transmitted to the connected host (console, mobile phone, PC)
  5. The host registers the input and relays it to your game or software application

Notes:

  • The Bluetooth mode of the G7 Pro adopts the HID protocol and is designed for Android devices.
  • If pairing mode fails to establish a connection, restart both the controller and your host device, then retry.

My G7 Pro/G7 Pro 8K/T7 Pro Sugar Whirl acting weird, how to reset the controller?

  1. If the controller cannot power on or power off normally, hold the View button + Menu button + M button until the logo LED flashes. This operation resets all profiles and custom settings of the controller.

  2. If the controller buttons stop responding, use a thin object such as a paperclip to press the reset button inside the circular hole on the rear of the controller. This will force the controller to shut down.

I have my controller set to X (1000Hz, for example), but the test isn't getting that result... what's going on?

Polling Rate Explanation Polling rate refers to the frequency at which the controller checks for input signals. Polling is the process of sampling and detecting the current input state. A higher polling rate delivers more timely and accurate input responses.

Multiple variables can influence polling rate test results, including the following:

  1. PC System Load For stable test results, run the test under near-idle conditions with low CPU, memory and disk activity.

  2. USB Port and Microcontroller Factors include USB standard (USB 2.0 / 3.0), controller hardware managing the port, and the number & load of other connected devices.

  3. USB Hubs Whether a hub is used, the hub’s performance level, and the load from other peripherals connected to the hub.

  4. Controller Configuration Gyro toggle status, dead zone settings, installed firmware version and other custom parameters.

  5. Testing Software and Version Always use the latest version of testing tools to avoid known bugs. Recommended tools: XInput Tester and Polling.exe.

  6. Test Methodology The speed and consistency of joystick rotation performed during the test.

Summary: Due to these numerous variables, minor deviations in polling rate results between different PCs or separate test runs are normal.
